Inspiring Inkin Challenge #12 – Split Negative, Flight of the Butterfly

For this challenge we had to do a split negative technique. Basically you stamp an image twice, once on very dark card stock (with Versamark and then white embossed) – I used Elegant Eggplant card stock here, and the other, on neutral card stock – I used Very Vanilla and stamped the same image in co-ordinating ink. Then you cut the images exactly in half and swap them as illustrated to make them whole again and adhere the two halves to a slightly larger piece of co-ordinating card stock.

Using SU new Eyelet Border punch, I made a lacy right edge border, stamped the little flower image on the Pale Plum card stock with versamark, made a slit in the middle so I could thread the grosgrain ribbon through, attached the Rhinestone brads, adhered all layers to Very Vanilla card and there you have it.

For the other half of the split images, I created the above. I scalloped the bottom edge of Elegant Eggplant cardstock, tied Linen thread round it, applied mini glue dots to keep thread in position, then matted onto Very Vanilla card stock which had also been scalloped. I used the Word Window punch to create an opening and stamped the sentiment. The split image was matted onto Pale Plum, raised on dimensionals and adhered to Elegant Eggplant. With the white uni signo pen, I added faux stitching all round as illustrated. This was then adhered to a Pale Plum card to finish.
