Inspiring Inkin’ Challenge # 22

For this fortnight’s challenge, we had to make this card and use Whisper White craft ink to make our own patterned paper.

I chose the ladybirds to feature in the Magic Proscenium Card, and decided on a black canvas. For the Whisper White to stand out, you need a dark coloured card stock. I tried lighter backgrounds but these didn’t work as well and because ladybirds are usually black and red, hence this colour scheme. Instructions on how to make this card are on my blog in an earlier post found here.

The butterfly on the front was stamped twice, once on Whisper White card stock in Real Red, which I trimmed and adhered to front of card on the right gatefold. I stamped a second time with Versamark onto vellum, sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds over it, and sprayed some hair spray on it afterwards to prevent it from flaking off.

This is the inside. When opened, it reveals the ladybirds. I clear embossed the lady birds after stamping so that the colour looked a shade deeper. On the butterfly, I inked it first with the Gable Green marker and using the thumping technique added additional colour in Real Red for extra colour on the stamp before stamping image. I made fine incisions on the strip of Green Galore to resemble grass and cut into it at odd angles to give it a jagged look.
