These exploding boxes are still my favourite way to record memories so I made one for my grandson who is celebrating his third birthday. They say a picture speaks a “thousand words” so I haven’t bothered with a description on how to make it! 
Side 2 …. 
Side 3 …. 
Side 4 … I made lids for all three layers. In the picture below, this is what you see when you take off the first lid. 
The pictures from the first layer is on display and the second layer is still encased in its lid. 
The second lid has been taken off to reveal the last layer still encased in its lid. 
Tada! Take this last lid off and it reveals a 3D birthday cake with 3 candles for a three year old!
