Twice now in the space of a week, I’ve forgotten the anniversary dates for members of my family. I missed my sister-in-law and her husband’s last week and my daughter’s on Friday! I am back pedalling and grovelling and made this yesterday to send to my baby girl and her hubby from stamp sets in my personal collection. So a really quick and simple card using the framelits dies which I dashed off first thing Saturday morning so I could post it asap. The front is embossed with the Adorning Accents embossing folders and the detail on the edge of the card was cut using the Adorning Accents Edgelits dies.
The inside is minimalist too. My card base was Island Indigo and I adhered a piece of Pool Party card stock the same size as the card front after I’d cut the edge off, and matted the bottom half of it with Pool Party an eighth of an inch smaller all round. One of the stamp sets you’ll recognise is Confetti – with the little sprinkling of hearts – very appropriate for an anniversary card, don’t you think? This is a really useful set to have as it has six background “sprinkle” images to suit every occasion.
Be warned – this post is picture heavy so for my overseas readers, here’s a glimpse of the Olympic Park from an Anglophile.
My DH’s company had done over 500 million GB£s worth of work (782,150,000.00 USD)on the infra-structure at the Olympic Park and felt more than a modicum of pride to see it finished and open to the public to be enjoyed by all. We had tickets to visit last Thursday and this is the Stratford Gate entrance wth the Aquadome on the left and the Olympic Stadium straight ahead.
What an amazing building the Aquadome is – seen here from the walkways. The two wings flanking the disc like roof in the middle, nicknamed the pringle (as it resembles a pringle crisp), give extra seating during the Olympics but will be de-constructed and removed after the games. Alot of thought, care and attention was given to detail. Lots of wetland planting and trees planted leaving a fantastic legacy for the nation to enjoy long after the games have finished.
Seating provided along the steps aesthetically pleasing .
Even the Queen’s Royal Barge, the Gloriana, built at a cost of £1m which led the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant was moored there which we didn’t expect to see.
I loved the architectural finishes …….this one on the underside of a walkway over the canal and here’s a conundrum, which way up should the picture below be?

These games have certainly given me a reason to smile – even though I’m an Australian import – being married to an Englishman for more than 30 years has given me a sense of Brit pride too!
