Secret Garden with Bermuda Bay

Stampin’ Up! is refreshing its colour palette.  I am lucky enough to be able to make a colour comparison with the current In Color hues of blues with one of the new colours called Bermuda Bay which will be making its debut to the European market in July. I have a plethora of inks, pads and card stock etc which I’d received as gifts when my family visited the UK many moons ago.

The five petal flower is stamped in Bermuda Bay, the daisy like flower is stamped in Pool Party with the tips rock & rolled in Island Indigo.  As you can see, there doesn’t appear to be that much difference between Bermuda Bay and Pool Party.  From the picture above, you can see that Bermuda Bay when stamped looks quite similar to Baja Breeze (not shown) which is one of the colours  being discontinued.  The card stock, however, is much more vibrant than Baja Breeze though – veering more toward Taken with Teal (retired).  The leaves were stamped in Pear Pizzazz, a returning past In Color.   So here are my card stock layers working from the Whisper White layer outwards – Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizzazz, Island Indigo on a Pool Party card base.

The edges of the natural trim ribbon were cut and adhered with glue dots.  The centre section left over was looped and attached with glue dots and embellished with a single flower trim, inked in Bermuda Bay.

I white embossed the sentiment with the aid of a stampa-majig to avoid stamping it wonky!

Here’s a close up of the butterfly.  I white embossed the largest flower from Secret Garden stamp set on vellum card stock then cut off some of the petals to form this butterfly.  I used the stained glass technique and coloured the underside of the vellum to create the butterfly and attached linen thread antennae with glue dots. The colours used are Island Indigo, Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay. The body comprised 3 different sizes of rhinestones – jumbo and  a large and medium one from the basic rhinestones set.

I was pleased with how it turned out.  Hope you like it.
