Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday is held on the 2nd Sunday in November closest to 11 November which was Armistice Day – the anniversary of the end of hostilities in the First World War at 1100 hrs in 1918.  It is held primarily to commemorate the contirbution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars.  All over the UK, ceremonies at local war memorials in most cities, towns, villages will be taking place.  Wreaths of remembrance poppies are laid at the memorials and a two minute silence is observed at precisely 11.00 a.m., the church bells will toll but are half-muffled as a mark of respect.

I made this card as a tribute to our fallen heroes.
