What’s your Work Of Art?

This is the Work of Art stamp set.  I’ve made lots of projects with just some simple stamping and occasionally I’ve seen butterflies or tulips and flowers of some sort on pinterest, so  I set myself a challenge and here’s what I came up with.

Work Of Art Wood Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

My lovely upline Amanda Fowler was running an incentive to “create and share” projects from the new Annual Catalogue on a private team forum.  These cards were actually on the reject pile. I wasn’t happy with them, but I thought I’d share anyway.  The response took me completely by surprise. There were such lovely, positive comments I thought I’d blog about it!

The name of the stamp set prompts you to use the stamps as your brush.  Just by partially inking the stamp, or using a marker in a darker colour to ink the edges gives you these effects. I wasn’t happy with the angle of the arms and covered these up with flowers as though she was cradling a bouquet.

During our US Odyssey a couple of years ago I remembered the red earth in Sedona and enroute to Arizona the tall cactii, and this is how this scene came about. Can anyone tell me what those cactii are called?  Some masking with the long thin brush stroke to create the cactii  and I used Cajun Craze for the earth tones  using the same stamp in the foreground.

As it’s the height of summer, alot of you are jetting to sunny climes and soaking in the sunshine and that’s what prompted this scene.  Some masking again to create the coconut palms and I used a marker to do her bikini so I could have more control.

The stamps being rigid, I didn’t really have a set plan.  Once the image was stamped I had to run with it, so I haven’t got a particular formula or method as to how to achieve this.

Call it luck!   You know what?  These nearly ended in the bin/trash can!  I’m so glad I didn’t now.

Which is your favourite?

For  all three cards you need the Work of Art Stamp set, available either in Wood mount or Clear Mount.
