Christmas Countdown #Week 2 of 12 – Snowman Season Bundle

Welcome to Episode 2 in my Countdown to Christmas series.

This week we’re looking at the Let It Snow Suite on Pages 18 – 21.  The Suite bundle price isn’t available at time of filming (August), owing to German Custom issues regarding the puff paint, but hopefully by the time this is scheduled to post, we might be able to get our hands on it then! Update on the puff paint – Customs had approved it, but REACH (A European Union on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation & restriction of CHemicals) did not.

As a consequence Stampin’ Up! took the painful decision to withdraw the Puff Paint because by the time they jumped through all the hoops to comply, the sales period for the Autumn/Winter catalogue would’ve ended.

Don’t despair, we have the lovely shimmer pastes to work with, and what you don’t have, you won’t miss! Back to the Suite Bundle.  It actually contains 2 bundles – the Snowman Season Bundle and the Tiny Keepsakes Bundle, but you can purchase them as separate bundles if you wish.

I have a bumper crop of cards for you to draw inspiration from.  The first one in Shaded Spruce is a fun fold, which is a lot easier than it looks.

Cards made with Snow Specialty DSP

The ones below feature the gorgeous Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper (SDSP) which are 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) sheets – 2 each of 6 double sided designs.  They have glitter on the figures or glitter highlights on some of the other designs.

  • The cards on the left are from a sheet with rows of snowmen in different attire.
  • Card lying down on the left – the middle snowman can be punched out. To preserve the images of the snowmen either side of him, you can cut the punchable snowman out with snips.
  • I used the remaining snowmen to create another card.

Favourite card

My favourite ones are the Let It Snow cards.  On the sheet, these snowmen are staggered and not in a straight line, so I was able to fussy cut each one individually.  I mixed old with new – and also used the “Merry Christmas Dies” which carried over from last year.

Cutting the 12″x 12″ sheet strategically

This sheet had pretty trees on it with glitter highlights on the branches and fir trees.  I cut them mathematically to maximize its use – 3″ x 4″ so you could make 12 cards out of one 12″x 12″ sheet.  The added advantage is that it is a single layer so it’s more economical for posting.

Don’t forget those tiny little bits – they don’t have to go to waste, you could easily reconfigure them for the inside of the card.
