A Comedy of Errors with Forever Blossoms

Happy Sunday everyone!

Oh my, if you know the history behind making this card it’ll make you laugh!  I found out that one of my club ladies was going to celebrate her Silver Wedding Anniversary in February – you know who you are (winks), so naturally I had to put my thinking cap on.  I don’t normally use this many stamp sets or dies for one card – but because I made mistake, after mistake, it kind of evolved…….

I find the easiest way to establish which stamp set has the appropriate greeting is by visiting the online store and type in “anniversary” in the “search” box. It will bring up all the relevant items which are applicable and  I can then look in my stash  to see whether I own that stamp set/dies  and adapt what sets I own to make it fit the occasion.

Initially I embossed a silver spray of Cherry Blossom on my card front, but in attaching the “For a special couple label”, I’d mounted it on silver  glimmer paper which had been cut skewiff and the glimmer paper had an adhesive sheet backing leftover from a previous project so there was no way I could get it undone! No problem, salvage the Cherry Blossom by die cutting and recycle on another card front – then I smudged the bottom so hence the addition of the rhinestones.

Next – the card insert – I stamped the “hope your day etc” crooked, so hence the insert was adhered at an angle so it would be less noticeable and the addition of the silver glimmer paper arrow to make it look as though it was by design, not accidental!

I usually use this stamp on the back of all my cards, but guess what?  Muggins stamped it on the opposite side of the card insert!  Grr … now what do I do?

Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP to the rescue, and more stamping, embossing, coloring with another greeting (from Beautiful Bouquet) and more flowers to dress it, I got there in the end and my apologies for adding the hearts (she’s not a hearts girl), but it didn’t look right without it and having die cut it in Petal Pink with the Detailed Bee dies, it tied in with the DSP on the opposite side.

So, can you identify with this scenario?  Sometimes mistakes happen one after another, and having invested time in creating something, you’re loathe to bin it and start over, not to mention that it’s a waste of materials too.  I hope she and her husband liked the end result, and unless she reads this blog post, be none the wiser!  It definitely felt like a comedy of errors at the time.

By the way, I used a couple of retired punches too – the 7/8″ scalloped circle punch and 3/4″ circle punch.  The Forever Blossoms online link is below, but the stamp set and dies have also been listed separately as one of the options.
