Birthday Card with Fancy Phrases

Hello! Happy Sunday! Hope you’re well and keeping your sanity!

I have so many October birthdays and digging through the collection of past projects, I still couldn’t find one that was suitable! It was back to the drawing board and a refreshing change from Christmas and Halloween projects. It’s probably safe to post now as the recipient should have received it by now.

Card Front

The colour combo is Gray Granite, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz. I used Gray Granite for my card base and for stamping the flowers and sentiment from Fancy Phrases stamp set.

I stamped the smaller floral image randomly on the Blushing Bride layer and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine with the Subtles 3D embossing folder.

The Whisper White layer was also embossed with one of the Meadow Moments embossing folders. Below that layer is a Blushing Bride piece also embossed but this time with the Scripty 3D embossing folder.

All the layers were distressed with the blade of a pair of scissors. I then sponged the edges with Blushing Bride and turned up the bottom right corners for a vintage look. The Whisper White Meadow Moments got the same sponge treatment but with a lighter touch.

Finishing Touches

All the layers were adhered flat to reduce bulk, except for the fussy cut sentiment which was adhered with dimensionals.

I added some ribbon from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo pack and frayed the ends before adhering with Tear & Tape. To add movement, a trio of metallic pearls to finish.

Floral Images

The floral images were all stamped in Gray Granite. As I was using water painters and not alcohol blending markers, it wasn’t necessary to use Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

I prefer to use an acrylic block to pick up ink from the ink pad rather than squeeze the lid to transfer the ink from ink pad to the lid. By picking up the ink on an acrylic block, it means you can keep your lids clean! If you do alot of colouring, the lids look messy and dirty over time.

Inside of Card

To complete the card, I stamped the sentiment in Gray Granite on standard Whisper White card stock and the smaller of the two floral images.
