What’s “Quite Curvy”?

At the time of writing our PM was due to make a public announcement of a 3-tier lock down system. I am hopeful that where we live in North Hampshire, we will maintain the base line at Tier 1 where there are minimum restrictions with fewer than 100 cases per 100,000 of population. Unfortunately scientific data has caused concern that cases are increasing at an alarming rate. It was therefore deemed necessary that England will also go into lockdown for a month as from next Thursday. We’re back to the restrictions imposed as it had been in March!

Here’s something to cheer you up. A new month, and another sneak peek! “Quite Curvy” evokes images of a female form, but in the Stampin’ Up! world, they are stamps which form an arc, rather than a straight line! This stamp set and dies will be available on 3 November!

If you haven’t seen it yet, I featured the Christmas set that is in this variety bundle on Friday, 30 October’s episode 6 Countdown to Christmas series.

Gatefold card front

How did I make that two-tone gatefold? In actual fact, it is two cards with the crumb cake piece adhered to the inside of the Whisper White card base.

I wanted to create a “colour wash” just by using water colour pencils without using any water, to mimic chalk painting. Consequently, I had to use coloured card stock of some description.

Close up of “catch”

You can see the colouring better in this close up, but it also illustrates the “catch” to keep the card closed when lying flat. I had to leave a gap in the middle of the gate fold to reveal the vine. The narrower sides meant less stability when the card stands upright.

A stack of two birds was adhered to the left of the label with dimensionals and provided a “catch”.

Adding stability

I die cut five Tasteful Labels Dies in Crumb Cake, stacked and adhered them to one another. This created a much thicker, sturdier label which could be inserted under the pair of birds. The sentiment was stamped on the top label and sponged in Soft Suede for more definition.

Several layers of this label provided the strength and stability to keep the card upright without toppling over.

As a finishing touch, I added a trio of Holiday rhinestones.
