Interactive card with Welcoming Window

When you receive a card which is interactive and requires some effort from you, it gives so much pleasure. Often there is an element of surprise, or something unexpected! I used the Welcoming Window bundle, the front displays one scene, and the back displays another!

Last Sunday I made one for Valentine’s Day which you can see HERE and I promised I’d do a video tutorial so here it is!

They remind me of plantation shutters, which we have in our home. There are so many different names for this type of card – to me the way this opens and shuts, it’s a “shutter card”. However if you search for “shutter cards”it comes up with something completely different! I called mine a proscenium card because as the “scene” is revealed, it looks like a “stage” with the curtains being drawn back. I made this way back in 2009 and the stamps have long gone but through the years, instead of being called a proscenium card they’ve evolved into “shutter cards”!!!

Today’s card is sometimes called a Flip-Flap Shutter card. On the front of the card, the shutters are in Rococco Rose.

When you pull the ribbon tabs in the opposite direction to each other, it reveals the back of the shutters in Seaside Spray.

Press play to see it in action and also to see how to make it.
