A Gatefold card with off centre opening and bonus card

Hi and welcome! I wanted to create a special Gatefold card with an off centre opening. We’ve had some joyous news that my Sister-in-law and her husband have become grandparents for the first time! The lock down and pandemic has been such a damper on life in the past year that news of the baby’s safe delivery is very welcome indeed!

Retiring products

Sadly the Stitched Shapes dies which has been my “go to” most used dies is retiring soon as well as the Layering Squares Dies, so I am on a mission to make the most of them while I still can!

The Treasures of Life stamp set didn’t make it into next year’s Annual catalogue either. Truth be known, I’d purchased this stamp set with my Sister-in-law in mind, because I knew that she and her husband were going to be grandparents soon. If I only made this one card with it, then it’ll be a very expensive card indeed! I don’t know of anyone-else who will be grandparents before the end of May! lol!

Nor is the Absolutely Argyle 3D embossing folder! As the new baby is a boy, it seemed appropriate to use this embossing folder as it errs on the side of masculine.

Inside card

The third image is a heart melting image of baby’s hand in the adult’s hand holding a heart. I didn’t have room to fit it in on the front of the card but it looks amazing stamped on the inside instead!

I also made a second card to congratulate the proud parents using the same stamp set. It borders on minimalistic. FYI there are some gorgeous new stamps to welcome new babies in the forthcoming new Annual Catalogue. In reality, the time frame didn’t work for me because it would mean delaying sending them a card a month or more after the birth!

The card base was in Basic White Thick and I used the Stitched with Whimsy Dies to incorporate a frame round my mat layers. To tie in with the Silver foil mat layer, I added some metallic mesh ribbon underneath the Basic White stamped frame.

I am looking forward to visiting and getting my first cuddle!
