What’s a Hybrid embossing folder

What’s a Hybrid embossing folder you might ask! I totally missed it in the new Annual Catalogue on page 116. I only discovered it when our CEO highlighted it in one of her live chats and I was totally converted!

It’s called “Bloom Hybrid Embossing Folder” which includes both dies and an embossing folder. The embossing folder has the thickness of a 3D folder and with the added functionality of die cutting the floral images at the same time.

How does it work? You insert the die on the logo side with the cutting edge face up. Lay your card stock on top then close embossing folder. Place it on the basic Platform 1, then lay the grey Platform 4 on top and run it through the Stamp & Emboss die cutting machine. Note that the Platform 3 is not used in this instance.

I discovered it was a bit tricky to stamp first, then emboss and die cut. So I embossed and die cut first, then set the embossed die cut blooms aside. The trio of flowers is actually in one piece, so I stamped them first, die cut them with the standard sandwich i.e., Platform 1, Platform 2, Platform 3, Card stock, Die with cutting edge face down, and another Platform 3 on top and ran it through the die cutting machine.

To emboss these flowers, I simply used the previously embossed and die cut layer as a template. I inserted the flowers without the die and embossed it using Platform 1 and 4.

This is the inside of the card.

Grab a cuppa, and watch the video. It “explains” it so much better than the spoken word.
