Water colour backgrounds without the mess

Water colour backgrounds without the mess seems like an apt title for this card. How does one achieve this, you might ask. Thank you Stampin’ Up! for bringing us their patented “distinktive” range of stamps which incorporates light and shade to give a three dimensional look to their images.

Say “hello” to the new Watercolor Shapes stamp set. The stamps are in their special “distinktive” range and you simply stamp the shape of your choice. No more messing with inking acrylic blocks, spritzing them with water trying to prevent it dripping before transferring onto paper.

There are rectangles, squares, circles and ovals in the set in a variety of sizes. I chose the large circle for my water colour background and stamped it in Pale Papaya. The circles overlap which gives it the bokeh effect which you often see in photography. On the Soft Succulent circle, I adhered the dragonfly from the Dragonfly Garden Bundle. It’s barely visible in the photo. If you look closely you can make out the one stamped in Basic White underneath the Shimmery Vellum card stock one on top, which was also stamped in Soft Succulent.

I needed to “ground” the plants, so I adhered patterned paper about an inch from the bottom to give sufficient room to stamp the greeting.

No card would be complete without a touch of “bling” so I added some 2021-2023 In Color Jewels.
