Simple clean card with Arctic Bears Bundle

I created a simple clean card using the Arctic Bears Bundle. This is week 4 of 12 in my Christmas Countdown Series. To make the card more special, I actually applied some shimmery embossing paste on the images.

Another technique I used was masking of the “glaciers” and the bear so I could use a blending brush to apply the ocean.

Rather than adding height with dimensionals, I applied embossing paste to add texture and depth. It is barely visible in the photo, but looks fab in real life.

The sentiment is from “Christmas to Remember” which is part of the Painted Christmas Suite. I am so conscious of trying to keep layering to a minimum because added height also means added expense in postage especially at Christmas when you have so many to send!

One way round it is to fussy cut the greeting, adhere it to a complimentary colour card stock and fussy cut around that layer too.

For the inside of the card, instead of stamping an image, I simply applied a touch of colour in Pool Party with a blending brush then stamped the sentiment in the same colour.

How to use other dies in the set

The additional samples I showed in my video tutorial was out of shot, so I’ve included them here in my blog post to illustrate how I used some of the other dies.

Wriggly die

You can create interesting ground cover with the wiggly, curvy die. I used it to die cut a 2″ strip of Basic White card stock and used the larger half for the back piece, and the smaller for the front.

It’s barely visible in this photo, but an application of Shimmery White Embossing Paste was applied to the top edge of the ground cover pieces.

Watery highlight die

I’m not sure what to call this die, but I think it’s meant to look like a shadow on top of an ocean or sea.

This was used to die cut the bottom right of my winter scene so that the rainbow glimmer paper would show through. In fact it is the negative portion.

There is also a small polar bear die which cuts and embosses at the same time. I cut a pair of these and sponged the edges in Smoky Slate so that they would more visible against the white background.
