This is part 3 in my Fond of Autumn series and it’s all about Gift Packaging. I managed not only to squeeze in a pillowbox, but an envelope treat box as well in my video tutorial in less than 15 minutes!
Before I go any further, I need to say what a very sad day today is. Today we wake up to the first dawn without Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who passed away yesterday afternoon at Balmoral. We mourn the loss of our monarch and her extraordinary 70 year reign. At least she will now be reunited with her “Strength and Stay” Prince Phillip. Rest in peace Ma’am.
The sketch on the right has been done by Eleanor Tomlinson whose sketch with Her Majesty and Paddington bear went viral during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. It was a nod to Her Majesty’s hilarious afternoon tea sketch with Paddington Bear when Her Majesty revealed that she too enjoyed a marmalade sandwich which she kept in her handbag!
Now back to the Fond of Autumn Part 3.
The leaf tag for the Envelope Treat Box uses a whitewash technique. In order to complete the two projects within the time frame, I’d pre-prepped the leaf tag as it requires drying time. So if you don’t know what a whitewash technique is, I’ve covered it in a previous post which you can see HERE.
Envelope Treat Box
For the envelope treat box one, I simply traced around the Envelope Treat Box that Stampin’ Up! supplies onto an A4 sheet of card stock. In the present economical climate it’s prudent to make our supplies stretch and this is one way of doing it!
Besides, the ones that Stampin’ Up! supplies are food safe, but if I mess around spritzing them to colour them, I’m not sure one could still lay claim that the treat box will still be food safe! This way, you have a vast range of options to make them any colour you want as well as embellish to suit the season or occasion!
Pillowbox
I never tire of this shape and I was thrilled when the Pretty Pillowbox dies from last year carried over to the 2022-23 annual catalogue. We don’t have the 1/2″ or 3/4″ circle punches anymore, but there is an alternative way you can create those finger holes using one of dies from the Pretty Pillbox die set.
The reason why Stampin’ Up! named these dies Pretty Pillowbox dies are because they carry special dies for the lid and it really IS pretty. You can see these in action on this post HERE.
