Faux step card – Kindest Gnomes

Welcome to episode 3 of 12 in my Christmas Countdown Series and for today’s project I designed a faux step card using the Kindest Gnomes bundle from the July-December 2022 mini.

The last card I made with this bundle was a triple easel card which you can see HERE. If you’re not a fan on cutting tram lines inside a card, then this card is for you because it takes the worry out of whether you cut it right, or scored it right to create the step card effect.

I used a new vellum called the Snowflake 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Specialty Vellum on my card. This unique paper includes three different snowflake designs in white vellum and iridescent foil. There are 2 sheets of each design – 6 sheets in a pack.

• Wintry 3D embossing folders – to emboss the centre panel
• Snowflake Accents Puff Paint – to highlight the gnome’s beard and ground he’s standing on
• Festive Pearls – finishing touches to card

Inside card

To decorate the inside, I stamped a gnome in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. As there aren’t any Stampin’ Blends in Coastal Cabana, I picked up ink with an acrylic block to use as a palette and used a water painter to colour in the hat and clothing. The lantern was coloured in with Gray Granite, the inside of the lantern with Mango Melody and the shoes in Poppy Parade.

Cutting Guide

1. Card base : Coastal Cabana 4 ⅛ ” x 11 ½” (10.5 cm x 29 cm). Long side score 4 ½”, 9”, 10 ¼” (11.5 cm, 23 cm, 26 cm)
2. Faux step : Coastal cabana 2 ¼” x 8-3/8″ (6 cm x 21 cm) long side score one end at 2 ¾” (7 cm)
3. Front Centre step : Basic White 2″ x 4-3/8″ (5 cm x 11 cm)
4. Side steps behind front step : DSP 3-7/8″ x 4-1/4″ (10 cm x 11 cm)
5. Bottom front step : DSP 1″ x 3-7/8″ (2.5 cm x 10 cm)
6. Inside card : Basic White 3-7/8″ x 4-1/4″ (10 cm x 11 cm)

You’ll need extra scraps of Coastal Cabana, Petal Pink and Basic White to die cut elements to build the Gnome.
