Halloween cracker – Scary Cute

Today is episode 3 of 6 in my 6-week Halloween Countdown Series and this time it’s a Halloween cracker and some stamping with the Scary Cute stamp set.

Did you miss the set of Cracker & Treat Box Dies in the Annual Catalogue – it’s on page 170 ? You can see a sample of it in use on page 45. I’m a sucker for dies, and it was one of the sets I bought as soon as the catalogue launched! It’s a stand alone set, so you can use it for anything!

I’ve fallen in love with the Black & White 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Designer Series Papers. There is a harlequin pattern which was perfect for my cracker today. The cracker die measures 4-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ (12.1 cm x 14.6 cm) so you can cut it from 6″x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) piece of paper.

In addition there is a variety of dies to cut out different shapes and labels so the possibilities are limitless.

In a Halloween context, I stamped the trio of silhouettes from the Scary Cute stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I did this on the Stamparatus to ensure that there was good ink coverage on the black silhouettes. Then I fussy cut this, adhered it to a scrap of Pumpkin Pie and fussy cut around that too to make the image “pop”.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiment and used one of the label dies in the Cracker & Treat Box Dies set to die cut the “trick or treat” portion of the sentiment, omitting the lower portion that said “you’re so sweet”.

I assembled the cracker, leaving both ends open so that I could insert the candy, then pinched and closed both ends before tying a bow with Baker’s Twine.

It’s so much easier to actually see how it’s done, so I created a video tutorial. Just press play!
