Clean & Simple card – Country Bouquet

This is a clean and simple card for a beginner who may be making baby steps into the world of stamping and paper crafting. On my YouTube channel, I had done a 101 on the Country Bouquet punch so I thought I would follow up with a card today.

In a previous post, I took part in a blog hop. The theme was “love” and I used the Country Bouquet stamp set and punch to create 3 cards – one for a Beginner who may only have minimal supplies, one for the Casual crafter who crafts more often and has accumulated more stash, and the Avid crafter who crafts regularly and has practically everything, enough to open their own store and then some! You can see the post HERE.

Today’s clean and simple card goes back to basics with minimal supplies i.e., a stamp set with coordinating punch, some patterned paper, card stock, 2 ink pads, a set of Stampin’ Write markers and some trim.

Bear in mind that the set of Stampin’ Write markers have 10 colours (pens) which gives you a range of 12 colours including the 2 ink pads when you’re starting out. The brush end of the marker pen can be used to ink up the stamp. Investing in Basic White thick card stock for card bases, and Basic White standard which has 40 sheets in the pack is terrific value for a Beginner!

The inside of the card was just decorated with a strip of DSP, cut so that it resembled a border. Just a little stamping with the pair of hearts in Balmy Blue and left blank so you can use the card whenever needed to suit the occasion.

How to create this card

  1. Card Base : Cut a Basic White Thick A4 sheet in half so it measures 8 ¼” x 5 ⅞” (21 cm x 14.5 cm) and fold in half so that the folded card measures 4 ⅛” x 5 ⅞”.
  2. For the front and inside mat layer : Cut 2 pieces standard Basic White card stock at 3 ¾” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm)
  3. Country Floral Lane 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) DSP – Select the bicycle pattern and cut a border strip then adhere to standard Basic White card stock for inside of card.
  4. Ink up the pair of solid heart stamps in Balmy Blue ink and stamp as illustrated in photo.
  5. Fussy cut a bicycle from the Country Floral Lane 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) DSP.
  6. Attach Simply Elegant silver cord to the back basket of bicycle with glue dot, then add dimensionals to the back of bicycle and adhere to second standard Basic White card stock for front of card.
  7. Draw free hand tufts of grass to “ground” bicycle with Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers (Mossy Meadow
  8. Stamp the hearts in Balmy Blue and punch out with Country Bouquet punch.
  9. Loop the silver cord and attach the other end to the large heart with dimensional at the top, and the smaller heart near the bottom of the card front.
  10. Lastly stamp “for you” in the space to the right of the silver cord and adhere to card front with Tombow adhesive.
