Sale-a-bration In the Country

We’re in the middle of Sale-a-bration and in today’s post, I am using the “In the Country” cling stamp set. This stamp set is free subject to a qualifying purchase of £45 excluding shipping/handling. I combined it with the Conversation Bubbles Bundle which is perfect for scrapbookers, but you can also use it on cards. I really liked the “just a note” sentiment in this set because sometimes you need cards which need not necessarily celebrate a birthday or occasion.

The “In the Country” cling stamp set has two stamps, one depicts a fence, country lane, fields and trees in the distance. In the other stamp it features some steps up to the cottage door. These ink sketches can be stand alone without any colouring, or you could add some colouring medium in a variety of ways. Stampin’ Up! carries water colour pencils, water painters, blending pens, blending brushes which can be used with their ink pads and alcohol markers or stampin’ write markers.

New to their arsenal are the small blending brushes to cover smaller areas. I took advantage of this for today’s card.

Card 1 – Landscape orientation

I used a combination of colouring techniques for this card. Stampin’ Up! have introduced small blending brushes and these are great for colouring small areas. In addition to the blending brushes I used the Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends combo.

  1. Cut a Crumb Cake card base 4 ⅛” x 11 ¾” (10.5 cm x 30 cm) and fold in half
  2. Soft Sea Foam Mat layer for card front : 4″ x 5 ¾” (10.2 cm x 14.6 cm)
  3. Emboss with Painted Texture 3D embossing folder and adhere to card front
  4. Crumb Cake Mat layer 2 for card front : 3 ⅝” x 4 ⅞” (9.2 cm x 12.3 cm)
  5. Very Vanilla piece layer 3- Cut 3 ½”x 4 ¾” (8.9 cm x 12 cm) emboss with 2nd largest Whimsy Stitched Rectangle die then stamp “in the country” image in Basic Gray and adhere to Crumb Cake Mat layer 2.
  6. Stamp “Just a note” in the bottom right corner of image in Soft Suede ink

Colouring

If colouring isn’t your cup of tea, the images are small enough to just add a hint of colour with a blending brush, or you could highlight small areas such as climbing plants with one of the markers as shown in the pic below.

  1. Fields, trees, middle of track in Soft Sea Foam ink with small blending brushes
  2. Country lane tyre tracks with Crumb Cake stampin’ Blends
  3. Fence with the Neutral Stampin’ Write markers.

Inside card

There are some extra layers for the inside to counter the extra layers on the card front.

  1. Soft Sea Foam layer 1 – 4″ x 5 ¾” (10.2 cm x 14.6 cm)
  2. Crumb Cake mat layer 2 – 3 ¾” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm)
  3. Very Vanilla mat layer 3 – 3 ⅝” x 5 ⅜” (9.2 cm x 13.7 cm)

Video Tutorial

I’ve created a video tutorial so you can see how the card came together.

Here’s a picture of the second card I made with the cottage image in portrait orientation.
