Today I have a long, slim card using Paradise Palms, Nothing’s Better than and the new Sweet Citrus hybrid embossing folder. I was horrified to find that I’d bought the Paradise Palms bundle in December 2021 during the pre-order period for the January-June 2022 mini catalogue and it hadn’t even seen daylight. It carried over to this year’s annual catalogue from May 2022 – April 2023 and time is fast running out, so I thought I’d better use it pronto!
During OnStage in November 2022, an Artisan Designer, Tami Hewlett, presented the new Sweet Citrus bundle which includes a hybrid embossing folder. One of the ideas she shared was to turn them into coconuts instead of citrus fruit. The coconut idea reminded me of a tropical scene. Then I discovered that I owned the Paradise Palms Bundle which to date had yet to see ink!
You may be wondering what a hybrid embossing folder is. A hybrid embossing folder includes a die specially designed to fit into the 3D embossing folder which can emboss and die cut the embossed images simultaneously. You can use the embossing folder on its own, or with the die. In my card today, I didn’t use the embossing folder, just the die to cut out the “coconuts.

There are several techniques I used in this card. The beach towel was made with Linen Paper. I stamped on it, frayed the ends and manipulated it as I stuck it down on the card front. The background was coloured in using a blending brush.
For the coconuts, I stamped these on Shimmery White card stock which is my preferred card stock for water colouring. It has a special coating and is more water tolerant. The coconuts and palm fronds were die cut from Shimmery White card stock.
