Conversation Bubbles retiring and a sneak peek

Happy Sunday! I’m sad that the Conversation Bubbles stamps and dies are retiring. I was so excited when I saw these so I’m in a quandary as to whether or not it will make it into my “to keep” pile. I just don’t feel I’m ready to let it go just yet.

To address the “retiring soon” conundrum, I thought I’d make a few cards to share before it leaves for good. If you’re a scrapbooker, these speech bubbles are just the ticket.

Card 1 : Long, slim card

This first one is a long, slim card – the slimline envelops are retiring as well. I stocked up on those too! My card base is in Blushing Bride – retiring and replaced by the new Bubble Bath pink. The speech bubble at the bottom is a single linear die so you can cut the bubble any size you want. “Congratulations” sentiment is a sneak peek from a new bundle called “Wonderful Thoughts”.

As the card is so long, I added an embossed piece of card stock at the top on the inside and stamped the row of flowers in the bottom. The embossing folder I used is from the Elegant Eucalyptus 3D embossing folders.

Card 2 – Shaker card

Bermuda Bay and So Saffron are retiring too. In fact I used retiring colours and card stock for all my cards because after May 1st, I won’t be able to use it any more.

  • The Bermuda Bay card base was cut at 4 ⅛” x 8 ¼” (10.5 cm x 21 cm) folded in half.
  • Basic White and Window sheet pieces both cut at 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” (9.5 x 9.5 cm)
  • Bermuda Bay card front at 3 ⅞” x 3 ⅞” (10 cm x 10 cm).
  • Inside the card So Saffron layer 3 ⅞” x 3 ⅞” (10 cm x 10 cm).
  • Second mat layer inside card – Bermuda Bay 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” (9.5 x 9.5 cm).
  • Third mat layer inside card – Basic White 3 ⅝” x 3 ⅝” (9 cm x 9 cm)
  • Die cut a Stylish circle frame in So Saffron card stock to fit inside the Bermuda Bay circle.
  • Cut “Hi!” letters from the Alphabet a la Mode die set
  • Add a little heart die cut in So Saffron from the Conversation Bubbles Dies.

Remember to stamp the Basic White layer before adhering to card front. Use foam adhesive strip to enclose the circle and fill it with sequins before attaching top.

In the second photo, I counter balance the weight of the shaker card front with extra mat layers. The exclamation mark was stamped on a scrap of Basic White then fussy cut and adhered inside the speech bubble.

Card 3 – Thank you card

For my third card I re-purposed the circles from the shaker card to make a landscape “thank you” card. I used the Alphabet a la Mode dies to spell “YAY!” in Bemuda Bay card stock. I couldn’t resist die cutting the thought bubble. There is a pair of heart dies so I used these to die cut some hearts in So Saffron to use as decoration.

For the inside, I used the heart dies to cut an aperture on the Basic White inside mat layer. As you can see, the Basic White hearts were re-purposed and were used to decorate the front of the card.

As I write this, I am feeling more inclined to hang on to these for my own scrapbooking projects. This set and the Greatest Journey is retiring too soon – but if it isn’t selling, Stampin’ Up! wastes no time in making room for items that are more popular.
