Gatefold with Elegant Borders Dies

Today’s post features a fancy Gatefold card using the Elegant Borders Dies. The Elegant Borders Dies are currently an Online Exclusive. There are four border dies in the set and I thought the arched one would be great for making a Gatefold card.

I’ve pushed the boat out on this one and have used the Chic Dies, Fancy Flora Dies as well as the ElegantBorders dies! In the quest to use up retiring papers (Texture Chic 12″ X 12″ [30.5 x 30.5 cm] Specialty Designer Series Paper [SDSP]) I had to pull out the Season of Chic bundle so that it would coordinate with the paper.

Because of the intricacy of the Elegant Border, I had to add extra layer of oval die cuts so that the belly band wouldn’t catch on the delicate borders.

The picture on the left shows the card with the belly band removed and the one in the middle displays the SDSP with a seashell pattern. To tie it altogether, I white embossed a sentiment on a Soft Succulent die cut oval and did two-step stamping on the cockle shell. I echoed that on the back of the card too.

Cutting guide

This gatefold card base is made up of 3 pieces. To hold it together, there is another piece adhered to the back as shown in photo 3 on the right.

1. Gatefold panels 2 pieces : Soft Succulent 3″ x 6″ (7.5 x 7.5 cm)
2. Centre front panel 1 piece Texture Chic Specialty DSP : 4″ x 6″ (10 cm x 15 cm)
3. Back card base 1 piece : Soft Succulent (a tad over 4″) x 6″ ([a tad over 10 cm] x 15 cm)
4. Mat layer for back card base 1 piece : Basic White 5 ¾” x 3 ¾” (14.5 cm x 9.5 cm)
5. Scraps of Basic White for stamping floral elements and shells for the card and belly band.

Belly Band

1. Soft Succulent 1 piece : 1 ¼” x A4 length (3 cm x A4 length)
2. Scraps of Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Basic White to die cut ovals.
3. Brushed Metallic 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) card stock scrap to die cut leaf sprig
