Easter treat holder with Something Fancy

Easter treat holder with Something Fancy is also combined with the Tulip Dies for today’s project. In the Something Fancy die set, I love the little dies which cuts fancy patterns in the tags and there is one in particular which resembles a tulip. It reminded me that it’s been a while since I used the Tulip Dies so I dug them out to create this Easter treat holder which was designed to fit a Malteser Bunny Milk Chocolate bar.

It’s been such a long time since I’ve used the Tulip dies that I’d forgotten how so I had to google and search my own YouTube channel to see the 101 video I made for the Tulip Dies when it first came out! lol!

The colour palette I chose is Parakeet Party. It is very BRIGHT…….but it needed using up so I’ve paired it with Sweet Sorbet and Daffodil Delight to make the Easter treat holder. You normally associate Easter with daffodils, so I thought I’d die cut the Tulips in Daffodil Delight and chose Crushed Curry for the deeper colour.

Cutting and scoring guide

You’ll need the paper trimmer and the simply scoring tool. You can use the paper trimmer for doing both the cutting and scoring, but I find it easier to score with the simply scoring tool. As I am using the Something Fancy dies to create the scallop tops, using the trimmer to cut first is much more accurate than if I scored everything then cut by hand.

Imperial measurements

Cutting

1. Easter Treat holder base : Parakeet Party 5 ½” x 6 ½”
2. First cut : Orient card stock with long side at the top and align left edge to left of cutting groove at 2″ and cut from 0″ down to 2 ½”.
3. Second cut : Align card sock at 3″. Cut from 0″ down to 2 ½”
4. Third cut : Align card stock to left and align at 5″. Cut from 0″ down to 2 ½”
5. Fourth cut : align card stock at 6″. Cut from 0″ down to 2 ½”.
6. Rotate card stock a quarter turn clockwise so that the short edge is at the top and the cut lines are on the right then align card stock at 3″. Cut between the cut lines at 2″ down to 3″.
7. Lift cutting blade and reposition blade to cut from 5″ down to 6 ½”.
8. Sweet Sorbet Mat layer : Cut 2 pieces2″ x 6″ for second layer. See video for instructions on how to cut this layer.

Scoring

1. Orient card stock so that the long side is at the top where the cuts are.
2. Use the cut lines as a guide to score the rest of the card stock at 2″, 3″, 5″ and 6″.
3. Rotate card stock a quarter turn so that the short side is at the top and the cut lines are on the right. then score at 1″

Cutting

1. Easter Treat holder base : Parakeet Party 14 cm x 16.5 cm.
2. First cut : Orient card stock with long side at the top and align left edge to left of cutting groove at 5 cm and cut from 0″ down to 6.5 cm.
3. Second cut : Align card stock at 7.5 cm. Cut from 0″ down to 6.5 cm.
4. Third cut : Align card stock to left and align at 12.5 cm. Cut from 0″ down to 6.5 cm
5. Fourth cut : align card stock at 15 cm. Cut from 0″ down to 6.5 cm
6. Rotate card stock a quarter turn clockwise so that the short edge is at the top and the cut lines are on the right, then align card stock at 7.5 cm. Cut between the cut lines at 5 cm down to 7.5 cm.
7. Lift cutting blade and reposition blade to cut from 12.5 cm down to 16.5 cm
8. Sweet Sorbet Mat layer : Cut 2 pieces Sweet Sorbet 5 cm x 15 cm for second layer. See video for instructions on how to cut this layer.

Scoring

2. Use the cut lines as a guide to score the rest of the card stock at 5 cm, 7.5 cm, 12.5 cm, 15 cm.
3. Rotate card stock a quarter turn so that the short side is at the top and the cut lines are on the right. then score at 2.5 cm.
