I took my inspiration for a Father’s Day Tackle box card from Stampin’ Up!’s samples in their May 2023 – April 2024 Annual catalogue. Knowing very little about fishing, some of the dies were baffling, but you can be sure that the clues are all in the picture samples in the catalogue. Yesterday, I published on my YouTube channel and Stamp with Elaine facebook page in my Top Tip Tuesday slot, a 101 on the Gone Fishing dies. Everything you need to know about the dies in that one chapter for easy reference.
Instead of embossing “Happy Father’s Day” in one of the compartments, I die cut “DAD” from the Alphabet a la Mode die set and I used a blending brush to darken the edges of the box base and the compartment pieces of the tackle box to create some depth.
I also ran the darker Pebbled Path Stampin’ Blend on the sides of the foam strips before attaching it to the compartment piece so this card is bulky!
On the inside of the card, I stamped “Happy Father’s Day” and used the tackle box compartment die to die cut it as a label. I applied Tombow adhesive and allowed it to dry so that it would be re-positionable. There’s method in the “madness” because I don’t want to end up with several Father’s Day cards so I can switch out the sentiments for a different occasion if I didn’t stamp directly inside the card.
Two of the dies that are slightly curved are designed to cut a slot in the card. It’s supposed to represent the ripples in the water. One is larger, and the other is smaller. I used a blending brush and added some colour. I poked a fish through the slot – isn’t it cute?
