Double z-fold card with Let’s Go Shopping

Double z-fold card with Let’s Go Shopping bundle. The images of the various types of shops in the Les Shoppes 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) DSP are really quirky. In lieu of stamping, you can fussy cut the images of the shops to use on your card fronts.

The idea of a shopping boulevard crept into my head when I looked at the Let’s Go Shopping stamp set and especially the pretty Les Shoppes DSP. I thought the best way to create a boulevard was a fancy fold like the double z-fold. It’s one of my favourite folds and I’ve used it many times before. It’s adaptable for so many different kinds of stamps, punches or dies like this one with umbrellas and wellies.

Creating the double z-fold

A double fold is a standard card in landscape orientation. So you cut an A4 sheet in half lengthways so it is long and narrow. Fold it in half, and the front half in half again.

Then you cut a 1″ (2.5 cm strip) – in fact you could cut it a little wider if you wish, but bear in mind you want to see what’s behind the strip, so you don’t want to obscure it by cutting it too wide. Fold it in exactly the same way, but when you adhere it to the card base, you flip it over so that it is adhered in the opposite direction to create that double “z” effect.
