This Delightful Doily Hybrid Embossing folder completely passed me by. I loved the sample Stampin’ Up! created so I’ve duplicated it in a different colour. The catalogue samples can be such a great resource, and often it can kick start your creative juices.
My colour choices were Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock. The top band was a very light touch in Pool Party as is the second band, but more of it! This was followed by Coastal Cabana, Lost Lagoon and lastly Pretty Peacock at the bottom.
The technique Stampin’ Up! used for their sample was a masking technique and they added colour with blending brushes, then embossed with the Delightful Doily Hybrid Embossing folder. I used this as a springboard for my card and it couldn’t look more different!
Both the Layering Leaves stamp set and the Delightful Doily Hybrid Embossing Folder had been on the shelf for yonks! I kept meaning to have a play, but then my Halloween and Christmas Series were in the pipeline and it kept passing me by.
Quite by accident, I picked up the Textured Floral set of dies thinking they went with the Layering Leaves stamp set, but am so pleased I did because the vellum label die cut with the Nested Essentials Dies needed popping up on dimensionals. I die cut the flowers and coloured them in with Stampin’ Blends – the leaves in Pretty Peacock, and the flowers in Petal Pink and adhered them to the label with glue dots. Then I could pop the dimensionals behind the leaves and floral images to secure the label to the card front.
Embossing tip
Did you notice that the vellum was embossed in Pretty Peacock? ….wait… but we don’t have Pretty Peacock embossing powder! Here’s a tip! Ink up the stamp in Versamark ink followed by the coloured ink of your choosing. Stamp on your project, then sprinkle CLEAR embossing powder over it and heat set! Whoop! Whoop! You have 50 colours to choose from in Stampin’ Up!’s colour range!
Inside card
As always, an understated inside with simple stamping. The Layering Leaves stamp set is a two-step stamp set so you stamp the linear image in a darker ink, and use the “filler” stamp in a lighter ink.
