Paper piecing technique with Warmest Heart

Happy Sunday – today I have a paper piecing technique with Warmest Heart to share. This set is retiring soon so I thought I better feature it before it goes! The stamp set features a thermos flask and small images you can decorate the flask with but what attracted me to this set were the Warmest Heart dies.

Paper Piecing technique

Paper piecing is a technique where you duplicate die cutting pieces to re-insert into the image in a contrasting colour to make the image whole again.

Warmest Heart bundle

There are so many possibilities with this set – three sentiments, “get well soon”, “you warm my heart” and “thanks”. There are six small sticker images which are easy to colour and a great size for making gift tags too. The dies especially are perfect for making outdoor adventure-themed cards for friends who love great outdoor pursuits and I think this set can so easily be overlooked.

“Thanks” card

I made use of the gorgeous online exclusive “Three Color 12″x 12” (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Glimmer paper for my paper piecing pieces for this “thanks!” card from the Warmest Heart bundle and have included a little teaser for something which will be available in the new year in 2024! Can you guess what it is?

For the inside of the card, I simply stuck one of the stickers I had created in the top right corner.

“You warm my heart” card

The “you warm my heart” card shows the other pattern in the Warmest Hearts die set. I used a blending brush to add colour to the background before adhering the flasks. The Pretty Peacock one was adhered directly to the mat layer, and the Pool Party one was adhered with dimensionals.

To add a bit of “bling”, I die cut the screw top lids and cup from the online exclusive Silver & Gold Adhesive backed 12″x 12″ Glimmer paper.

“Get well” card

This “get well” card shows simply stamped thermos flasks. I stamped the background with the Sketched Plaid stamp in Pool Party ink. I also included a DIY sticker and die cut the the label to frame the “get well soon” sentiment. There is a pair of them in the Warmest Hearts die set so you can cut one in a contrasting colour for the frame, stamp the sentiment first than position the 2nd die over the sentiment to die cut the middle insert out at the same time.

How to make the small sticker images

  1. Stamp all the images in Tuxedo black memento ink on Basic White card stock.
  2. Colour in the images as desired with Stampin’ Blends or water colour pencils.
  3. Use your Versamark ink pad and stamp over the images.
  4. Sprinkle with Clear embossing powder and heat emboss to set the powder.
  5. Attach an adhesive sheet to the back of the stamped images.
  6. Die cut with the corresponding dies from the Warmest Heart dies.

Voila – stickers at the ready! Use them as accents for a card, or in a planner, on small 3″x 3″ (7.5 x 7.5 cm) cards – just go where your creativity takes you!
