Sale-a-bration Just Kiddin’ DSP

Today’s focus is on Sale-a-bration’s Just Kiddin’ DSP which is free with a £45 order, but how do you use it it you don’t have the stamp set, or dies or embellishments from the suite? So here are a few ideas as to what you can use.

Fussy cut images from DSP

I simply cut up the characters on the sheet to use as my images in lieu of the stamps. Look through your existing stash of stamps to see if there are any sentiments which are suitable. I’m sure there will be an abundance of Birthday greetings, words with Celebrate, or You’re amazing etc. The Thoughtful Moments Hybrid embossing folder is another that springs to mind.

By the way, there is a sheet in the Just Kiddin’ 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) DSP pack which is designed so that you can cut them up to make 5 cards. This gave me 5 backgrounds to work with. Two 6″x 6″ pieces, one 4 ⅛” x 6″, one 4 ⅜” x 6″ and one 3 ½” x 6 ” pieces to make 5 cards.

Sending Smiles Stamp set & Sending Dies

I used the book image to create a 6″x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) card with half a sheet of Pool Party 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) card stock. The DSP was trimmed down to 5 ½” x 5 ½” (14 x 14 cm). I adhered it to a Basic White layer ⅛” larger and then adhered it to the card base.

Personalisation

If you already own an alphabet die set, use those to spell out the recipient’s name. The Mini Alphabet dies set is a good one to have. I die cut letters to spell my great-nephew’s name. He absolutely adores books.

For the inside of the card, I used the “Biggest Wish” photopolymer stamps to stamp “Happy Birthday” in Highland Heather ink.

Add a numeral

It is quite common to add a numeral to children’s cards, especially when they’re tiny tots. Alphabet a la Mode have both letters and numbers. The dies are large, narrow and thin, so they’re great for a card.

Thoughtful moments Hybrid Embossing folder

I inked up the logo side of the Thoughtful moments Hybrid Embossing folder and die cut the words and used “celebrate” for this card. The size of the card was governed by the size of the DSP. The mat layer is a ½” (1.3 cm) frame cut from the Online Exclusive Three Colour 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) glimmer paper and the inside was removed so it could be used for another project. It seemed such a shame to hide it behind a layer so you may as well re-purpose it, don’t you agree?

Inside Thoughtful Moments Hybrid embossing folder card

More fussy cutting. I chose this little boy with the bird on his head to adorn the inside of the card.

Charming Sentiments & Sentiments Silhouette dies

This card features a waterfall in the background with a plank bridge. I used the boy fishing image for this one and for the inside, a sweet little girl observing the ladybird.

Extra cards I made also using Charming Sentiments & Sentiments Silhouette Dies

One of the extra cards I made uses the reverse side of the DSP in Moody Mauve with the stars.

I adhered the fussy cut little wizard in the bottom right corner with dimensionals and I die cut stars and rays from silver glimmer paper for the card front.

Cookery card

There is a sheet of DSP with images of the children baking. I created a cookery scene on the front of the card and used the Big Wishes stamps to stamp “Happy Birthday” which was also fussy cut. I decorated the inside of the card with the little girl holding the cake on a plate.

Phew! That was a marathon – but I hope you liked what I made as an alternative. It’s so satisfying to be able to adapt what you already have. It’s amazing how a little can go a long way with just a pair of scissors. Fussy cutting may not be your jam, but when needs must, it’s a great work around.
