I wanted to create a masculine Valentine card with Nature’s Sweetness specialty DSP. It coordinates with the Notes of Nature bundle which is part of the Nature’s Sweetness Suite Collection on pages 40-43 of the January-April 2024 mini. For the embellishments, the Opaque faceted gems from Sale-a-bration is ideal because it coordinates with Nature’s Sweetness 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Specialty papers in the suite.
One way of earning the Opaque faceted gems is to invest in the Notes of Nature Bundle. However, for my card today, I’ve used the “Love For You” stamp set because it had “Happy Valentine’s Day” in it. It’s all about the Specialty paper. There is one sheet which has 6 floral images against a circled backdrop.
I gold embossed “Happy Valentine’s Day” on a scrap of basic white and used the new Excellent Eggs Dies to cut the greeting’s scallop edge.
Cutting guide
- Card base Basic White Thick : 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.8 cm x 21 cm) folded in half
- Nature’s Sweetness Specialty DSP Mat layer #1: 4” x 5 ⅝” (10.2 cm x 14.3 cm)
- *Trim one of the floral patterns on all 4 sides in equal amounts so that the floral pattern remains centred : 3 ½” x 5 ¼” (9 cm x 13.3 cm)
- Nature’s Sweetness Specialty DSP strip for card front ¾” x 3 ½” (2 cm x 9 cm)
- Inside card : Pebbled Path mat layer #1 : 3 ¾” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm)
- Basic White inside mat layer #2 : 3 ⅝”x 5 ⅜” (9.2 cm x 13.7 cm)
- Nature’s Sweetness Specialty DSP same as card front : ½” x 3 ⅝” (0.6 cm x 9.2 cm)
* Select the 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5) which has 6 floral images against a circle background. Cut this sheet in half so each half measures 6″ x 12″ (15.2 cm x 30.5 cm). Then cut each 6″ x 12″ piece into 3 pieces each measuring 4″ x 6″ (10.2 cm x 15.2 cm)
Inside card
I adhered the Pebbled Path mat layer inside the card base first, then the Basic White piece which is ⅛” (0.3 cm) smaller on top. A strip of the same pattern Mat Layer #1 on the card front was adhered near the bottom. Lastly, I embossed the sentiment in Gold omitting anything fussy.
