Bookmarks with Snailed It

Hello! What do you think of this year’s Sale-a-bration items? Do you have a favourite? My favourite are those Oh So Ombre papers. Using patterned paper as part of the design on any project makes you look like an artist extraordinaire!

In this day of technology it’s so easy to send a birthday message on FB or social media but I can’t help feeling that it also loses that personal touch. Call me old fashioned, but wouldn’t you get more joy from receiving happy mail?

Last year Stampin’ Up! set up a FB group for Demonstrators to reach out to each other to become pen pals. I now have a little group of pen pals from North America, Canada, and Europe and I get so excited seeing foreign stamps land on my doormat!

Imagine how happy I was to discover the “Snail Mail Suite” on pages 54-55 of the January-June 2021 Mini! Just the ticket for making bookmarks to send with the catalogues and brochures I mailed out to my friends and customers. Guess what? I forgot to take a photo so I’ve had to make them again for this post! I omitted adding the ribbon/threads as I didn’t want to waste it. As it’s for my own personal use, it was not necessary to go the whole hog.

The sentiment “hello there” is from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set. I love the mixture of script and a typed font together. I used the “Oh So Ombre” Level 1 Sale-a-bration papers which saved me heaps of time to get that graduated colour look.

Dies which fit images in the Designer Series Papers

There are two dies which can be used to die cut the small snail and a larger snail from the patterned papers.

I had to fussy cut the snail with the moustache and the two smaller snails facing in opposite directions. Each bookmark is two inches in width so that it would fit into the Fancy Tag Topper punch. From a 6″x 6″ sheet, I was able to make three bookmarks.

The stamped sentiment was on Whisper White card. I cut 2″ x 8-1/4″ pieces of Whisper White, stamped the sentiment and tore it off to leave that ragged edge. Then I trimmed the strips down to 6″ x 2″ and punched one end with the Fancy Tag Topper punch. I adhered the sentiment at the bottom of the patterned paper, then adhered it to the Whisper White layer to give the bookmark added strength. Then you can glue your snail images on top and add ribbon or Bakers twine to finish.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your week!
