Continuing with the Kimono theme, today’s card is an Origami Kimono Card with Crane of Fortune. This is Part 2 of two Kimono type cards and also a sneak peek at the new Fabulous Frames dies!
You only need a 6″x 6″ piece of the Symbols of Fortune specialty designer series paper to create the Kimono. Do not be daunted by the “origami” term. Just follow my video. I do recommend that you practice a couple of times with just copy paper before you use the patterned paper. If I can do it, anyone can!
Traditionally, the obi sash should be knotted and tied in the back. In the previous version which you can see here it had been switched round to the front on the belly band.
Once the Kimono is ready, you can adhere it to the pretty frame. I chose not to discard the inside of the frame. Instead, I embossed it with the soon to be retired Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder. I shall be really sorry to see this one go. It’s my most used embossing folder!
I love that Stampin’ Up! more often than not, include a die which can cut out the images on their Designer Series papers. This time it’s the pair of Crysanthemums on one of the designs. You can cut partial ones out to adhere to corners or the edges so that you do not waste any of the blooms.
Just some simple stamping on the inside and the card is complete! The card base is half an A4 sheet in Thick Basic White and fits into a C6 envelope. Inside the card is an Evening Evergreen mat layer and the second Basic White layer was cut 1/8″ smaller.
