Here’s a simply layered card with this adorable Hippest Hippos and Hippo dies from the July-August 2022 Sale-a-bration brochure. Oftentimes you’ll find that the samples in the brochures or catalogues are a great source of inspiration. I also have a bonus card and the materials I used were calculated so that it would qualify for earning the Free Hippest Hippo stamp set and Hippo Dies.

Card 1 Rays of Light
The Rays of Light stamp is in the current Annual Catalogue on page 118. It’s a background stamp and you need the largest “F” block to mount it on, or you can use the Stamparatus. The sample in the Sale-a-bration brochure was in pink. I felt as it was rays of sunshine, I may as well pick So Saffron as my card base.
This is a standard card with the layers just ⅛” or 0.5 cm larger than the previous layer.

The Stylish Shapes dies came into play too. Of course I tweaked the card by using an additional circle to stamp my sentiment on. I also made use of the other Hippo dies in the set to die cut flowers and grass.
Card 2 Dots & Shapes die
If you’re new to stamping, there are assorted A4 card packs with 2 sheets each in all 10 colours in each Colour family. The ones I’ve used is the Subtles family. They are all pastel shades and coordinate with each other in the same colour family. The Basic White A4 pack is another staple. Stampin’ Up!’s own brand is specially formulated so that it absorbs the ink really well.

The Spots & Dots die can be so easily overlooked. There is value in this single die. You can make your own spotty card stock in any colour. That equates to 50 colours in all which includes the Subtles, Regals, Brights, Neutrals and two sets of 5 In Colours! You can use the leftover dots as confetti for shaker cards – something that appeals to my re-cycling sensibilities!
This hippo on point reminds me of the dancing hippos in Walt Disney’s Fantasia! Showing my age now, but a real classic!

Stampin’ Up! has a new Reward System beginning early April 2025. Customers now must have an online account and need to opt in to earn 10% of their qualifying commissionable product purchases to redeem as Stampin’ Rewards on future orders. A qualifying purchase must meet the minimum threshold requirement on commissionable products. Be aware that Stampin’ Rewards have an expiration date. They need not be redeemed all at once. Stampin’ Up!’s system tracks them and the rewards expiring first will be used first when redeemed. You can check the Rewards Dashboard to help you keep track of Rewards Expiration Date Information. Please note the new Stampin’ Reward System cannot use Rewards toward the purchase of a Starter Kit as the Starter Kit has non-commissionable items in it. The Host Code will become obsolete.
