Halloween Countdown Series 2 of 6 – plus new kits and POM (product of the month). More details on the new kit and Product of the month at the end of this post.

Welcome to week 2 of my Halloween Countdown Series. Today I’m going to show you an alternative way of doing the eclipse or double vision technique. The usual way of doing this technique is to cut a sheet of patterned paper and cut it up into strips. You re-assemble the sheet by aligning alternative strips with dimensionals, but this is an alternative way of doing it.

Alternative Eclipse/double vision technique

You stamp the image first on your background layer first with the help of a Stamp Positioner tool. Then you cut 9 pieces of ¼” strips with the Shimmering Stripes paper, followed by 9 pieces of ¼” strips in Basic White. Adhere the Shimmering Stripes paper on top of the Basic White pieces to add a little height in lieu of using dimensionals. Adhere directly on to your stamped background layer leaving a little gap in between. Re-insert the piece into the Stamp Positioning tool and stamp the image again to create the eclipse effect. You may have to stamp several times because the Shimmering Stripes paper has glitter effects on it.

Cutting Guide

1. Basic White : cut 9 pieces ¼” x 4 ½” pieces.
2. Cut Shimmering White layer measuring 3 ¼” x 4 ¾” (8.5 cm x 12 cm). Insert into Stamp Positioner as shown in picture and stamp web image several times until it’s depth of colour is satisfactory. Set aside.
3. Cut 9 pieces ¼”x 4 ½” Shimmering Stripes paper. Align and adhere each Shimmering Stripes piece on top of a Basic White piece so there are 9 pieces in total. Set aside.
4. Re-insert Shimmering Stripes layer into Stamp Positioner in exactly the same position using the markers and stamp on top of the glued pieces several times until the image is satisfactory.

Card base, mat layers, die cutting

Card front

1. Card Base : Gorgeous Grape cut at 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 x 21 cm) folded in half.
2. Basic Black mat layer : 3 ⅜” x 4 ⅞” (8.5 x 12.5 cm). Centre and adhere to front of card base leaving an even border on all 4 sides.
3. Adhere the prepared eclipse piece to the Basic Black mat layer leaving an even border on all 4 sides.
4. Basic Black scrap – die cut two Halloween words, 2 spiders. Stack and adhere Halloween words together to strengthen it. Adhere to bottom of card as pictured. Then adhere spiders as shown.
5. Die cut 2 pieces of the “night” word in Gorgeous Grape. Stack, align and glue together. Use Clear Wink of Stella glimmer brush to colour the “night” word and adhere on top of Halloween word to the bottom right as shown.

Inside card

1. Cut a Basic White layer measuring 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (10 cm x 14 cm).
2. Partially stamp the web in top right corner and the spider a little further down right justified.
3. Use Black 0.4 mm Stampin’ Journaling pen to draw line to connect spider to web.
4. Stamp “very spooky” as shown.
5. Adhere Basic White layer to inside card base leaving an even border on all 4 sides.
