Fun Fold – Botanical Textures

Fun Fold – Botanical Textures. Today’s fun fold with the Botanical Textures Suite collection, an online exclusive, doubles up as a gift card holder as well. I made another version which was a corner twist and turn easel card which you can see HERE.

The Botanical Textures Suite contains 2 packs of 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Designers Series Papers. The colour palette on the Woven Textures pack is Basic Beige, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Gray Granite, Pecan Pie and on the other Botanical Textures pack is Basic Black. I featured the Woven Textures in a previous post HERE.

Corner Easel Templates

  1. Card base : Smoky Slate 4 ⅛ ” x 11″ (10.5 cm x 28 cm).
  2. Long side score at 5 ½”, 6 ⅞” ( 14 cm, 17.5 cm)
  3. Apply adhesive to centre panel on the top and bottom edges only. This will leave the middle free to create a hidden pocket to insert a gift card.
  4. Before adhering pocket, flip card over and score diagonally from bottom left corner on 2nd score line ( 6 ⅞” or 17.5 cm score line) to top right corner.
  5. Only apply adhesive to bottom triangle and remember to keep the border free from tape because the mat layer is ⅛” (0.3 cm) smaller.

Mat layers Cutting guide

  1. Cut 2 Basic Gray mat layers #1 : 3 ⅞” x 3 ⅞” (9.8 cm x 9.8 cm).
  2. DSP card front 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” (9.5 x 9.5 cm)
  3. Cut 1 piece Basic White Mat layer #2 inside at 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” (9.5 x 9.5 cm).
  4. Cut 2 pieces DSP Pattern A card front side panel and one inside : 1″ x 3 ⅞” (2.5 cm x 9.8 cm).

Decorative elements and easel stopper

  1. On scrap of Basic White card stock stamp large leaf image in Basic Gray and fussy cut. Set aside.
  2. Cut ¾” x 4″ (1.9 x 10.2 cm) strip of Basic Gray card stock and emboss with Mini Corrugated 3D embossing folder. Trim both ends at an angle so that it measures ¾” x 3 ⅜” (1.9 cm x 8.5 cm).
  3. Punch 1 Basic White circle with 2″(5 cm) circle punch. Stamp “thank you” and basket weave image with Basic Gray ink as pictured.
  4. Easel Stopper : 1 ¾” (4.4 cm) circle punch – punch 1 Basic White circle. Stamp basket weave and small leaf in Basic Gray ink.

Assembly

Card front
  1. Adhere Pattern “A” DSP which measures 1″ x 3 ⅞” (2.5 cm x 9.8 cm) vertically on side panel on card front.
  2. DSP Pattern B : 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” (9.5 x 9.5 cm) adhere to Basic Gray mat layer #1.
  3. Adhere fussy cut large leaf on left of card front.
  4. In order to avoid flattening embossed corrugated strip, apply tear n’ tape directly along top of leaf and partially across card front. Place corrugated Basic Gray piece on top to adhere to card front.
  5. Place 3 dimensionals above corrugated piece and one below then place stamped 2″ circle on top to adhere.
  6. Add a trio of Neutral Matte dots as a finishing touch.
  7. Remove backing tape on bottom triangle and attach the embellished card front square.
Inside card
  1. Glue remaining piece of DSP Pattern “A” on the Basic White mat layer #2 horizontally toward top as pictured.
  2. Apply dimensionals to back of 1 ¾” circle stopper piece.
  3. Align with bottom right corner of Basic White mat layer #2.

  1. Is this card just all gray shades? I’m not sure where the ‘textures’ come in…
Are you meaning just the different dsp? or actual textures?
    I’m confused.
nice card design pattern, but the grays don’t do anything for me.

    • The Botanical Textures Suite Collection contains 2 sets of 12 x 12 Designer Series Papers. The one I used for this card is the black and white collection, but the other set of 12 x 12 DSP called Woven Textures which have Basic Beige, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Gray Granite, Pecan Pie colour palette woven textures on it. The link to another post using this pack is here https://stampwithelaine.com/2025/03/loating-tent-fold-textured-notes/. I challenged myself to use the black and white papers to make a card because it was part of the suite and it would’ve been a waste not to. You can always add hints of colour and embossing folders to add more texture.
