How to Mix and Match products

How to Mix and Match products. When there is a product which is stand alone like the new Blooming Phrases stamp set, you can mix and match other products you have in your stash. So for today’s project I’m mixing an embossing folder from the Celebratory Sips Suite and matching it with DSP from the Florals in Bloom Suite.

Glass & Gardens embossing folder

The Glass & Gardens embossing folder is a pair of embossing folders which was designed so that it would fit the Mini Stampin’ Cut Embossing machine. One folder embosses a pattern which resembles cut crystal, and the other is a floral one which I’ve used for my card today. After embossing it, I swiped a white Kraft ink pad over it to highlight the embossed image.

Florals in Bloom 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) DSP

The card stock I used to emboss with is a new 2025-2027 in colour called Timid Tiger. I matched the embossed piece with the Florals in Bloom 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) DSP. There is Timid Tiger in the colour palette of the DSP. This DSP is from the Florals in Bloom Suite.

The Florals in Bloom Suite collection is on pages 40 to 47. This suite is HUGE because it carries two bundles. One just has floral images only called Pretty Florals, and the other has a mixture of both sentiments and images. The latter is called Sweet Blooms. To complete the suite, there are the 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls embellishments.

How to make the card

Today’s card is actually my second attempt, and shhhh….. I’ll let you into a secret! I botched the first one, so this card has extra layers so I could cover up my mistakes! In fact to rescue my first attempt, I turned the card inside out and that’s why I had to add the extra Shy Shamrock layer to cover the whole of the inside. But you can omit this if you wish to make this card.

  1. Card base : Darling Duckling cut at 4 ⅛” x 11 ½” (10.5 cm x 29 cm) and folded in half.
  2. Shy Shamrock card front layer 3 ⅛” x 5 ¾” (8 cm x 14.5 cm). Align and adhere top edge with top of card base.
  3. Cut 2 pieces ½” x 5 ¾” (1.3 cm x 14.5 cm) DSP ( I used Florals in Bloom) and set aside.
  4. Emboss Timid Tiger strip cut at 2 ” x 5 ¾” (6.7 cm x 14.5 cm) with Glass & Garden Embossing folder (floral one).
  5. Run White Craft ink pad over the embossed elements to highlight the embossed areas.
  6. Adhere the DSP strips leaving ¼” exposed on either side of the Timid Tiger embossed layer.
  7. Apply dimensionals and adhere to the Shy Shamrock layer on card front as pictured above.

Blooming Phrases

  1. Ink up the “just because” stamp from Blooming Phrases with Shy Shamrock ink and stamp at the bottom of card front.
  2. Stamp the floral images with Timid Tiger as shown.
  3. Use the single leaf stamp and ink up with Shy Shamrock and fit it around the flowers as pictured above.

2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls

  1. Randomly attach three 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls in the top right corner.
  2. Add three more 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls randomly along sentiment with Timid Tiger flat pearls.

Inside card

  1. Optional : Shy Shamrock cut at 4 ⅛” x 5 ¾” (10.5 cm x 14.5 cm) adhere to inside of card. (I only added this to cover up my mistake).
  2. Layer 2 : Darling Duckling cut at 4″ x 5 ⅝” (10.2 cm x 14.2 cm). If you bypass step 1, then substitute Darling Duckling for Shy Shamrock to cut this piece.
  3. Basic White layer : 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (9.8 cm x 14 cm).
  4. Adhere ½” x 5 ½” DSP strip approximately ½” from bottom edge.
  5. Ink up only the “tail” of stamp in Shy Shamrock ink.
  6. Stamp the same flower in Timid Tiger ink and swap images to the single leaf and stamp leaf randomly with Shy Shamrock as pictured.
  7. Adhere this layer to previous layer and complete card.
