Reason to Smile #3

For this card, I used a technique that my fellow team mate the lovely Jane shared at our last quarterly meeting.  I white embossed the outlined daisy stamp on cardstock vellum then on the reverse side (laid over a sponge mat), I used the stylus that comes with the Simply Scoring tool to make indentations following the stamped  outline.  This is a basic parchment craft technique.  The centre of the flowers embossed on the front of the vellum were coloured in using Peach Parfait and Concord Crush markers.  The card base is Wisteria Wonder.

It’s hard to see in the photo.   I couldn’t quite catch the effect even on camera.  Looks lush in real life!  I cut an aperture on the front of the card with the framelits label die then adhered the vellum to the back.  On a separate piece of Whisper White card stock cut 1/4″ smaller all round than the card base,   I stamped the daisy image using  two-step stamping in Concord Crush making sure  the images aligned with the vellum images (with the help of a stamp-a-majig) and adhered this on the reverse side of the vellum, concealing it. 

You can see here what the inside looks like. On the back of the Whisper White cardstock on the left panel are the stamped images aligned with the vellum ones on the front.    To complete the card, I then stamped more daisies inside.

Before I sign off, I wondered how many watched the 10M diving last night?  So pleased Tom Daley got his medal – the weight and expectations of the whole country were on his young 18 year old shoulders and he didn’t disappoint!  I’m sure his Dad is looking down on him and bursting with pride – well done Tom, you did it!

I never thought I’d be so swept up with Olympic fever.  DH monopolised the TV so I didn’t have much choice. Besides the BBC’s coverage was back to back, wall to wall, so there was no escape. Surprisingly I didn’t find watching with him as objectionable as I thought it would be.  Sports is just not my thing but I actually enjoyed it, especially when you were willing team GB on and they’ve done so well bringing home so many medals!  

Will you be watching the closing ceremony tonight?  How can one not?
