Wonderful Wreath

Eek, you’re probably thinking – this early for christmas fayre?  Well week 4’s countdown to christmas (my videos 12 week countdown were scheduled so that they stopped on the 18th, a week before actual christmas day ) so  now is the time to be gathering ideas, stocking up on materials etc to make some cards.  Die-hard crafters usually start back in July!   This was one of the cards I created for an Inspiration Station earlier this month.

So here’s something different you can do with this stamp.  First I cut out the wreath as well as cutting out the centre section to reveal the red layer below.   I used a craft knife and followed the contour of three of the leaves in the wreath to create slots in the stamped image.    I stamped the smallest snowflake from Festive Flurry and cut out the centre star shape and inserted them in the slots as “decoration”.  A layer of Silver glimmer card stock was added and a label frame was cut so that the Real Red layer could be exposed and the wreath was popped up on dimensionals.

The bottom section of the card was left a bit longer so I could punch a scallop edge border integral to the card.    Here are the items I used – cardstock was Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White and Silver glimmer paper.  Inks – Smoky Slate, Cherry Cobbler.
