Birthday card with ombre fringed effect

Not Friday again, back so soon?  Where oh where does the time go?  I thought this card warranted a post of its own.  If you follow my blog, you most likely would’ve seen it on my regular Wednesday video slot. Putting it into a photo collage didn’t do it justice, so here it is again.

Birthday card with ombre fringing technique

Stampin’ Up!’s fringing scissors created this effect, so here is a list of the cardstock I used.  Starting from the bottom up with the darkest colour to the lightest:

  • Island Indigo
  • Bermuda Bay
  • Coastal Cabana
  • Pool Party
  • Soft Sky
  • Card Base is Soft Sky

I used Watercolor Wonder DSP matted on to Island Indigo panel in lieu of ribbon to break it up.  The Sale-a-bration stamp set “See ya Later” stamped on top in Island Indigo ink, and Regals candy dots to accessorise.

This card also made a brief appearance on this week’s video.  Same stamp set, but such a different look. This time I stamped on a piece of Whisper White card stock and punched it out with a 2-1/2″ circle punch and adhered it to the tag with dimensionals.

The card base is Coastal Cabana, 2013-2015 In Colors.  I embossed the front of the card with the Decorative Dots TIEF (also a Sale-a-bration item choice as is the DSP and Crisp Cantaloupe Bakers Twine both from the Sweet Sorbet range).  The antique brad pinches the loops of twine together and has been threaded through the angled tag punched out with our new Angled Tag Topper punch in the Spring/Summer 2014 catalogue.  The polaroid photo frame is the On Film framelits die cut from Smoky Slate cardstock.
