Today’s video is on how to assemble tulips with the Tulips Dies from Stampin’ Up!.
When the dies arrived, it was a bit bewildering especially since there weren’t any instructions on how to assemble them. I thought it prudent to make a video on just how to assemble them, so I make the mistakes so you don’t have to.
Three tulip sizes
There are 17 dies in the Tulips Dies set and seven of them are for building three types of tulips. The largest full bloomed tulip requires 3 dies. The medium tulip requires 2 and the smallest which looks like it’s a bud, also requires 2 dies.
In the picture above, on the far left, is the bud. The top right is the medium size tulip and in the bottom right, the fullest, largest tulip.
I’ve die cut them in different colours so you can distinguish the outer layer more easily. There are duplicates of the small bud shaped dies so you can die cut all the elements you need to build the tulips with just one pass through the die cutting machine.
These dies are unique in that it also incorporates a score line within the die to indicate where you need to fold the petal in on itself to create the tulip shape.
The dies also emboss at the same time, the petals have a raised relief pattern once die cut. If you use a sponge dauber to rub over each piece, this will accentuate the pattern and makes the texture more visible.
Here’s a sample to illustrate what I mean. The tulips in this sample were made out of plain card stock. It would look equally stunning using an ombre pattern paper.
