Welcome to Part 2 of 4 in my Fond of Autumn series using the stencil technique. One of the dies in the Autumn Bouquet Dies set is perfect for using as a stencil because of the intricacy of the die. I had a light bulb moment when creating this so as not to waste card stock. Both these cards are super quick and easy, pack flat, are ideal for posting and look amazing!
I cut my stencil with the Deckled Rectangles Dies so I could use it afterwards on another card – two for the price of one! Then I die cut a Deckled Rectangle mat layer larger than the stencil to compliment it.
Both these cards are easy to duplicate. All that was needed was some Simply Elegant trim and you’re done!
Re-cycling!
You’re probably wondering why I cut the stencil with the Deckled Rectangle Dies. When you use embossing paste on the stencil, it will leave a residue and there will be an uneven texture on the stencil where you applied the paste. The embossing paste will harden once exposed to the air. If you pass it through the rollers in the die cutting machine to cut your Deckled rectangle after an application of embossing paste, it will flatten it. Part of the charm of the piece is its irregularity, so that’s why it’s better to cut the card stock with the Deckled Rectangle Die first!
Verdict – aka your opinion?
Well, what do you think? Good plan to waste not, want not? … or should I have just stuck with the one card and discard the stencil.
Of course there are a lot of different ways you can apply embossing paste – here’s another example applying embossing paste without the need for a stencil which you can see HERE.
