Birthday card hinge stamp technique- Nuts about squirrels

In this Sunday’s blogpost, I thought I’d share a birthday card made with Nuts about Squirrels stamp set which I recently acquired. With the winter drawing in, it’s time to think about an autumnal theme so I thought squirrels and nuts would be quite appropriate. The stamp set is a two-step stamping set and is made out of photopolymer. The stamps are clear so you can see exactly where you’re stamping

To decorate the top of my card, I’ve used a hinge stamping technique. This is made possible with Stampin’ Up!’s stamp positioning tool called a Stamparatus.

Hinge stamping in columns technique

  1. Mount the stamp on one of the clear plates.
  2. Ink up stamp and move card stock down the grid paper using the lines as your guide every ¼” or 0.5 cm to stamp the greeting. If you wish to have an ombre look, stamp 3 times consecutively without re-inking stamp. The first generation stamp is the darkest, and the second and third time I stamp the greeting without re-inking the stamp becomes lighter and lighter. Then I repeated the process in each column.
  3. For the second row in column 1, move plate down a hinge and repeat process.
  4. Now reposition stamp to stamp column 2.
  5. Repeat steps 2 & 3 to create column 2. Remember to vary each stamped generation, otherwise it will all look the same.
  6. Once you’ve completed column 2, reposition stamp for column 3.
  7. Repeat steps 2 & 3 to create column 3. Column 3 will be the identical in appearance to the first column.

Hope that makes sense!
