Birthday card with vellum

Birthday card with vellum – here’s another birthday card using May’s product of the month, the Berry Botanical Vellum 12″x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) specialty paper. These printed vellum sheets are thicker and heavier in weight than the plain sheets Stampin’ Up! used to stock.

The front and back is easily distinguishable because where the right side is, the printed pattern is much brighter. Flip it to the reverse side, and you can see that it is duller and more muted.

In today’s project, one of the floral sheets printed pattern have the flowers more spaced apart. I fussy cut the berries and a pair of leaves to adorn the front in lieu of stamping.

Cutting guide

  1. Card base : Peaceful Pine cut at 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm) and folded in half.
  2. Golden Glow layer 3 ¾” x 5 ¼” (9.5 cm x 13.5 cm).
  3. Cut one each of adhesive sheet, Basic White c/s backing and Berry Botanical vellum at 3 ½” x 5″ (9 cm x 13 cm). Remove backing to adhesive sheet and adhere to vellum, then remove backing sheet on the vellum and adhere to Basic White c/s.
  4. Party Banner dies 4th smallest – cut in Basic White. The banner wasn’t long enough so I placed my cutting plates shy of the cutting edge at the top so I could make the banner longer.
  5. Fussy cut berries and leaves from the vellum sheet with floral elements which are placed wider apart.

Inside card

  1. Basic White : cut at 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (10 cm x 14 cm).
  2. Mask and stamp greeting with Golden Glow ink. The greeting is from Lovely Arrangement stamp set.
  3. Stamp leaves from same stamp set in Peaceful Pine ink then adhere to inside of card to complete it.
