Simple birthday hot foil card

Simple birthday hot foil card. Here’s a different way of using the Flourishes & Frames Hot Foil dies. Truth be known, I didn’t have much success incorporating the arch detail within the largest Hot Foil label die. After the sixth attempt, I didn’t want to waste anymore foil to try and achieve perfection. Consequently I did a workaround!

I hot foiled the arches separately and fussy cut them to adhere on either side of the label. The label itself was hot foiled in the normal way as was the “happy birthday” greeting from the Classic Greetings Hot Foil dies.

Remember May’s product of the month which was the Berry Botanical Vellum 12″x 12″ Specialty paper? I had some on my desk so I used it to die cut the leaves from the Butterfly Flight Hot Foil Dies and adhered them under the label.

Cutting guide

1. Card base : Basic White 5 ¾” x 8 ¼” (14.5 cm x 21 cm) folded in half.
2. Cut Beautiful Ordinary Life DSP : cut at 4 ⅛” x 5 ¾” (10.5 cm x 14.5 cm)
3. Scrap of Basic White for hot foiling labels and arches and greeting
4. Silver Hot foiling roll

Inside card

1. Basic White layer : 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (10 cm x 14 cm)
2. Beautiful Ordinary Life DSP : ¾” x 3 ⅞” (2 cm x 10 cm)

Assembling card

1. Adhere the Beautiful Ordinary Life DSP that measures 4 ⅛” x 5 ¾” to front of card as pictured.
2. Arrange die cut vellum leaves so that it peeps out from beneath the label in the top left and bottom right corner of label.
3. Use a blending brush to apply Petal Pink to silver foiled 2nd largest label from Flourishes & Labels hot foil dies. Apply dimensionals on the back and adhere to centre of card front.
4. Apply adhesive to fussy cut hot foiled arches at top of bottom of of label as pictured.
5. Adhere “happy birthday” on top of hot foiled label as shown above.
6. Add Rhinestone basic jewels on to front of card as pictured.

Inside card

1. Cut Basic White layer 3 ⅞” x 5 ½” (10 cm x 14 cm). Set aside.
2. Trim Beautiful Ordinary Life DSP to ¾” x 3 ⅞” (2 cm x 10 cm) and adhere at bottom of Basic White layer. Flip over to the back and cut off any excess.
3. Use blending brush to add a touch of Petal Pink along all 4 sides and adhere to inside of card base.

Please be aware this machine is designed to fit Stampin’ Up!’s larger Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine and was tested with their own line of products. It would render the 1 year warranty on the Stampin’ Hot Foil System null and void if you use it on non-Stampin’ Up! machines which may not fit.

Also be sure you’re ordering the machine with the right plug for your market. Foils and dies have to be purchased separately.
