12-wk Christmas Countdown – Wk 1 simple cards

12 week Christmas Countdown every Friday for 12 weeks until week 12 on November 27, 2026. In week# 1 I am featuring the Creative Celebrations Mix & Match Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper features Christmas and winter themed designs in a cheerful pastel palette of periwinkle blue, sage green, pastel pink, and bright red. The four sheets of pre-cut designs make it easy to add quick accents and layered details, and the cut-apart pages give you gift tags and focal pieces for cards, scrapbooks, and paper crafts. They make quick easy Christmas cards that won’t break the bank!

If you’re new to Stampin’ Up!’s Hot Foil System please scroll down to bottom of post to see the video by Stampin’ Up! on how to use it. Also check out how to use the Reverse Hot Foil Die which comes after that.

Reverse Hot Foil Die/Magical Christmas Hot Foil Dies

I wanted to feature the Reverse Hot Foil Die. This solid die lets you create two designs from one piece of foil: the main design and the negative image left on the foil. You simply apply the used foil following the usual foiling process for a shiny bonus design. It means that you have zero waste.

It was especially useful for hot foiling the Magical Christmas sentiments. One die adds shiny, festive greetings, along with petite stars and candy canes. A separate coordinating die cuts it all out. The result is beautifully foiled sentiments that bring a celebratory feel to your paper crafting projects. This was ideal for pairing with making the easy simple cards.

  1. Cut foil at 3 ½” x 5″ (9 cm x 13 cm). The foil is delicate and the best way to cut it is with a trimmer because it will hold the foil down and make a cleaner cut.
  2. Card stock – colour of your choice 4″ x 5 ½” (10 cm x 14 cm). Advisable to cut larger than your foil to prevent it from accidentally foiling your shim plate.
  3. Follow instructions for hot foiling sentiments. If you’re doing multiples, foil the different coloured foils first (picture on left).
  4. Switch to Reverse Hot Foil Die and foil the negatives next (picture in middle).
  5. Once all completed, you can then die cut them (picture on right). I put them on some black card stock so it would be easier to see.

Stampin’ Hot Foil System

This is a new tool by Stampin’ Up! with special Hot Foil Dies. If you missed the post introducing the machine and information all about it, here’s a video to explain how the system works. Please be aware this machine is designed to fit Stampin’ Up!’s larger Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine and was tested with their own line of products. It would render the 1 year warranty on the Stampin’ Hot Foil System null and void if you use it on non-Stampin’ Up! machines which may not fit.

Also be sure you’re ordering the machine with the right plug for your market. Foils and dies have to be purchased separately.

If you purchase the Stampin’ Hot Foil System before Jan 4, 2027, it will also include the Metallic Magic Craft Class for free. The class will cost £28.00 to purchase when the free class offer ends.
