Shimmering Scenes hot foil background

I also wanted to experiment with hot foiling on shimmery card stock. The Pastels Shimmer 12 x 12 (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Specialty paper was an online exclusive introduced in January 2026 and is still available. There are 6 sheets in the pack, two each of Bubble Bath, Lemon Lolly and Pool Party.

In today’s card I had a play with a new bundle from the September-December 2026 catalogue. It is from the Mosaic Garden Suite collection on pages 32 and 33. I love the colour palette they’ve chosen for the Designer Series Papers – Crisp Cantaloupe, Crushed Curry, Hydrangea Hue, Old Olive and Pretty Peacock. Something to look forward to when it launches in September!

Fun Fold card Cutting guide

Card front

1. Cut card base with Bubble Bath card stock : 5 ¾” x 8″ (14.5 cm x 20 cm).
2. Long side on top score at 2″ and 4″ (5 cm and 10 cm). Burnish score lines – fold card front back (mountain fold) on 2″ score line, and valley fold at 4″ score line. (mountain fold at 5 cm score line, valley fold at 10 cm score line).  

Tile Garden bundle (new – wef 1 September, 2026)

1. Die cut Bubble Bath card stock with 2nd largest petal pattern border square die. Adhere to front panel on left side – only apply adhesive where needed after the Hot Foiled pieces have been adhered.
2. Basic White card stock – die cut 2nd largest striped pattern border square. Stamp stem and leaves in Old Olive then apply dimensionals on back and adhere to Bubble Bath square.
3. Stamp flowers from Tile Garden in Pool Party ink and fussy cut. Also stamp birthday greeting on Bubble Bath card stock with Pool Party Ink and fussy cut.
4. Use glue dots to adhere pink foiled Shimmering Scenes floral element, the large and small fussy cut flowers.
5. Lastly adhere birthday greeting and an odd number of 2026-2028 In Color dots as desired.

Hot foiling

If you are new to hot foiling, there is a short video by Stampin’ Up! below for reference.

1. Pool Party sheet of Pastels Shimmer 12 x 12 (30.5 x 30.5 cm) specialty paper cut at 3 ¾” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm). Hot foil with the floral Shimmering Scenes Hot Foil die with pink Hot foil. You will need to hot foil the same piece of card stock at least 4 times to cover the whole piece. Once complete, short side on top align left edge at 1 ⅞” (4.8 cm) and cut in half. Adhere 1 half on left fold, and the other inside the card on the right leaving an even border on all 4 sides. For the right hand piece, ensure that the top, bottom and right side have even borders.
2. Use remnants of pink foil to hot foil floral Shimmering Scenes element and die cut with corresponding open die. Adhere to the Basic White Tile Garden nested square in bottom left corner.

Tip: Cut pink hot foil into 3″x 5″ strips in trimmer, shiny side up. Then stack on top of each other long side on top, align left edge at 4″ and cut of ends. Rotate to short side and align left edge at 1 ½” and cut. Now you have 4 pieces measuring 1 ½” x 4″. Reserve remnants for another project.

Inside card

1. Cut a Basic White piece at 3 ¾” x 5 ½” (9.5 cm x 14 cm).
2. Stamp with Pool Party ink at the bottom with Shimmering Scenes floral meadow stamp.
3. Short side on top, align left edge a 1 ⅞” (4.8 cm) and cut in half.
4. Adhere one piece on inside left panel, and the other as shown in picture above.

Stampin’ Hot Foil System

This is a new tool by Stampin’ Up! with special Hot Foil Dies. If you missed the post introducing the machine and information all about it, here’s a video to explain how the system works. Please be aware this machine is designed to fit Stampin’ Up!’s larger Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine and was tested with their own line of products. It would render the 1 year warranty on the Stampin’ Hot Foil System null and void if you use it on non-Stampin’ Up! machines which may not fit.

Also be sure you’re ordering the machine with the right plug for your market. Foils and dies have to be purchased separately.

If you purchase the Stampin’ Hot Foil System before Jan 4, 2027, it will also include the Metallic Magic Craft Class for free. The class will cost £28.00 to purchase when the free class offer ends.
